Strog Gate

Politicians are often accused of being out of touch with the true Australian but one thing brings us together: poor service. Poor service is everyone’s nightmare and John Murphy, parliamentary security to the Minister for Trade and MP for Lowe, recently took a stand against it.
Labor MPs and cafes can be a volatile mix but in this instance it was Mrs Murphy who bore the brunt of poor service. Mrs Murphy complained to staff about limited hot food options at 7pm but was told ‘that is it for the night’ Mr Murphy, ever alert to trade concerns, has successfully called for an investigation.
Investigations like this always uncover dirt and the beef stroganoff served at Parliament house has come under fire. In the Australian tradition Mrs Murphy allowed the cafeteria another chance but was again disappointed. Beef stroganoff in small portions forced Mrs Murphy to complain to staff who revealed ‘the manager had instructed them to make the portions smaller.’ In her attempts to receive satisfaction from the manager she was told ‘If you don’t like it bring your own lunch.’
There is something fishy here and close friends of the Labor party denied the small portions were part of a reform called ‘Parliamentary Portions for Pensioners (PPP)’. PPP is rumoured to provide half a strog-portion to every Australian pensioner in an attempt to provide the essentials. John Murphy has officially apologised but what conspiracy has forced this apology?
Clearly this issue could disappear but it is too important to let go. Half a strog disappears from parliament every day; those in power are prepared to ignore and mislead in order to confuse everyday Australians. John Murphy has sold The People out this time but he should know that the fight against injustice isn’t for sale.
