Feral Cats Enter Politics

NSW has never had a mythological creature to call its own but with a new premier comes vision, intelligence and the legitimisation of the Penrith Panther. Premier Rees’ has shown the way to revitalisation of the NSW economy but the real challenge is convincing conspiracy theorists to theorise on the panther.
The Penrith Panther is no bunyip or yowie with only 600 sightings. By comparison the yowie has over 3000 sightings and a place in Aboriginal folklore. Without a mention in the dreaming the panther has an 8-ball in front of it but this can not be used an excuse for a lack of exploitation. An aggressive marketing campaign has been suggested with Rees saying: “Of particular concern is if there are little kids out there and there actually is one of these things.” By exposing the unknown threat to children Rees' will win the public support that is crucial to the panther’s PR.
Panthers prefer a heavily forested habitat and the Blue Mountains represent acres of uninhabited land perfect for concealing a mythological beast. Over time this will bring growth back to the economy via tourism. Rees has been inspired by careful historical research; neither the Loch Ness monster’s global brand nor Godzilla’s role in putting Tokyo on the map escaped Rees’ attention.
Rees has displayed innovation and box-free thinking in his first weeks as Premier of NSW. While we wait for Rees’ plan to locate the “Westy” an anxious population is comforted knowing that NSW will be on track soon-ish rather than later-ish.
